For the Autumn/Winter 21 season, Hong-Kong-based, ARCHIVAL REINVENT, has

joined forces with Japanese streetwear brand, #FR2, for a collection inspired by both

Kendo, a modern Japanese martial art, and the Samurai - the former of which arose

from the latter. Couple these cultural traditions with ARCHIVAL REINVENTS very

distinct design vision and you get a range of dystopian, utility-focused range.

The collaboration combines what many would think of as a polarizing concoction of

Japanese culture and technical fabrications and design, but delivering a product that

rings true to both ARCHIVAL REINVENT and #FR2. As a result, the range consists of

graphic tees, headwear, multi-pocket shorts with strip,

heritage-inspired outerwear, and more. Making a direct nod to Kendo and Samurai, they reinterpret the Kimono silhouette - a Japanese icon - and put their function-forward spin on it through various pockets, adjustable detailing and straps. Other pieces in the collection come equipped with bountiful pockets, tassel detailing and hidden zippers. In typical fashion, the garments report to a strict minimal colour palette that is characterized by black, charcoal and white tones with the odd luminescent yellow hue.
